Can You Guess My Name?
Hello,
I am your friend,
I am your enemy,
Can you guess my name?
You can bring hundreds of Alexandras,
or tens of Roman Empires,
none can rule men like me,
for I am the one who rules the vilest of your kings and mightiest of your empires.
Your history has not been that of the rise and fall of different exploitative power structures,
but that of a single invisible monarch ruling you throughout every age,
I am your friendly enemy.
Can you guess my name?
You have grown wise enough
to figure out
the effectiveness of divide and conquer to subjugate others,
but you remain too foolish to notice
how I keep you conquered all the time
by keeping you divided all the time.
You are clever enough
to befool others,
and simultaneously stupid enough
to never realize your own foolishness under me.
I keep you busy in:
the downward slope of past,
the upward trajectory of future,
while the plains of present moment remain untouched by you.
Can you guess my name?
You asked for the gold of eternal bliss,
I convinced you for the copper of momentary material happiness.
You asked for the psalm of freedom,
I convinced you for the elegy of bondage.
You asked for the sweetener of compassion,
I convinced you for the poison of jealousy.
You asked for the shining light of wholeness,
I convinced you for the dark dungeons of separation.
Can you guess my name?
I make you suffer in a sea full of joy
by creating an illusion of desert around you.
I maintain that illusion by:
making you run the unnecessary races,
making you fight in the senseless fights,
letting you win to bring you down the ranks of life.
Can you guess my name?
I never leave you alone,
not because I love you,
but because I hate aloneness.
You shut down your lips,
only to see my lips moving non-stop.
You close your eyes,
only to see the pictures I paint non-stop.
You put hands on your ears,
only to hear my echos all around.
You go to sleep,
only to meet me in the dreams.
Can you gue…….. oh sorry, one more hint:
You run away to woods,
only to fail once again.
Can you guess my name?
I keep you thirsty,
even when the thirst of your mouth is quenched.
I keep you hungry,
even when the hunger of your stomach is satisfied.
I keep you devoid of beauty,
even when the streams of beauty flow from each of your pores.
I keep you restless,
even when being fully at rest is your capability.
Can you guess my name?
People might be “weak” and “strong” for you,
but both are my brilliant slaves.
To the one,
I give every reason to remain weak,
and to the other,
I give every reason to remain “dominative.”
None can escape my yoke easily,
and if someone tries,
he tastes the sourness of fear,
and the sweetness of greed,
and mostly never opens the doorway to freedom.
Can you guess my name?
Like the nuclear energy,
I can be both
creative and destructive.
Sages have called me
the best slave,
and the worst master.
I whip your back every day,
and still make you worship me.
I kill you every moment,
and still hide the blood.
Can you guess my name?
In the jungle,
I made you survive and thrive.
In the civilization,
You have to surpass me to protect yourself.
I guess you have guessed my name…….
