Escalations against China continues.
As the US’s proxy war in Ukraine keeps going on with no end in sight, which is by design of the US foreign policy, and as the game of nuclear chicken between the US and Russia continues, the country’s escalations against China cannot be ignored.
During the past 30 days alone:
Pentagon is seeking to have wartime-like powers for the “potential of direct confrontation with China over Taiwan.”
According to a senior congressional aide, the intent of the legislation is to spur the Pentagon and industry to move more aggressively by removing bureaucratic barriers because the US “can’t pussyfoot around with minimum-sustaining-rate buys of these munitions.” Making this legislation a law should be the highest priority for everyone as “we can’t play around anymore,” the aide said.
The Senate NDAA bill would increase military aid to Taiwan from $4.5 billion to $10 billion at a time when the tensions between the US and China over the island are at their highest.
Biden’s Secretary of State, Blinken, has been claiming without evidence that Beijing has accelerated its plan to “annex” Taiwan - the kind of claims the US officials use to justify passing the legislation they want. “Why are we not on a national mobilization footing? If we get in a war we will have to be, but by then it may be too late,” responded a Former Pentagon official to Blinken’s unevidenced claims.
Not to mention the fact that Biden has been explicitly saying the US would go to war with China if it attacks Taiwan, which is no more than a pawn for the US in its “great power competition.”
They have started preparing for a direct confrontation with China to curb the “China threat,” which was beautifully articulated by Noam Chomsky.
Amid this, some idiots still have this line of thinking:
“Biden is compromised.”
“Biden has been bought off by the Chinese government.”
“Biden is a puppet of the CCP.”
“China is threatening to attack Taiwan because Biden is soft on China.”
It’s pretty common among the MAGA Republicans to accuse Biden of being “soft on China” even when the evidence of him escalating the US into direct confrontation with China stares right in their face.
Accusing Biden of being a China puppet is no different than accusing Trump of being a Putin puppet when he was the President. Just like Trump was not what he was accused of, Biden is not what he is being accused of; both serve the interests of US imperialism. But what did the “Trump is Putin’s man” story achieve? It achieved something without which no American war can be initiated - the public hatred toward the country the US is seeking to target. The Russophobia created back then is materializing now as the US’s dangerous proxy war against Russia continues with no public backlash.
The Chinophobia being created among the Western public now is going to be useful when the time to take on China comes. That’s the story of every US war.
And there’s a pretty high chance that the public consent for the passing of these legislations has already been manufactured as the years-long anti-China propaganda in the West has convinced people that China is the “bad guy.” I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Taiwanese flag emojis in the social media bios of the Western public as things intensify from here.
The world is not a safe place when its imperial power structure is seeking a direct confrontation with the fourth nuclear superpower while simultaneously engaging in a proxy war against the No.1 nuclear superpower.
