ISSUE #103: US bombed Syria and claimed self-defense.
Early Wednesday, the US reported that it carried out airstrikes on the areas used by the foreign militias in eastern Syria. An escalating exchange of attacks between the American invaders and the people defending their land has reportedly killed numerous Syrian and foreign militants.
The US Central Command announced that the “U.S. military forces conducted precision airstrikes in Deir Ez-Zor Syria today.”
“These precision strikes are intended to defend and protect U.S. forces from attacks like the ones on August 15 against U.S. personnel by Iran-backed groups.”
Following the US attack, the Syrian and foreign militants responded by carrying out rocket attacks on the US military positions in eastern Syria, which reportedly injured several US troops.
“Today’s strikes were necessary to protect and defend U.S. personnel,” said Central Command spokesman Col. Joe Buccino.
But quick research will tell you that the US is illegally occupying Syria and you don’t need to be a big brain intelligentsia to know that you can’t claim self-defense on a territory you are illegally occupying.
Iran denied any link to the militia attack by the US airstrikes, but even if the militia had connections with Iran, it’s still illegal to bomb them because the “Iran-backed” militia is in Syria with full authorization from the Syrian government.
It’s like someone breaking into your home, stealing your things, killing anyone who tries to stop him, and trying to justify his invasion by saying, “The killings were necessary for self-defense.” Wouldn’t it be ridiculous to say that? Wouldn’t it be even more ridiculous to believe that?
Then the question arises, why are there US troops in Syria in the first place? If you ask any US official or its useful idiot, you would hear something like this: “The US troops are in Syria to fight terrorism and extremist groups like ISIS.”
But are they?
It’s been reported several times that the US troops are smuggling Syrian oil into Iraq, which amounts to as high as 80% of Syria’s daily oil output, and ISIS - the same extremist group the US claims to be fighting - is being funded and trained by the US.
What do you call a person who doesn’t have a clear stand on something? A hypocrite, right? Then what’s the US that on one side claims to be fighting ISIS and funding the same on the other?
If we consider for a moment that the US is honest about its mission in Syria, even then the theft of oil can’t be justified.
The US doesn’t belong in Syria in any way imaginable. Its presence there violates the international law it constantly boasts about.
But you won’t see the so-called “anti-war” Westerners condemn the most murderous nation for its genocidal actions. The Westerners are trained to criticize the governments that the US doesn't like. They are trained to not care about Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, and Libya because the destruction of these countries further the US empire agendas. The only wars that the Westerners want to end are the ones that don’t promote the US interests.
If your country serves the interests of the globe-spanning US empire, it can start any war without anyone taking a note; it can convince everyone that its war is to “maintain peace” and for “self-defense.”
