Before we discuss the story, let me walk you through what a no-confidence vote is.
In a vote of no-confidence, members of parliament vote on whether or not they have confidence in the current PM and his government. If the government loses, the PM has to resign.
Since the majority of the members voted in favor, Imran Khan had to go.
Following his fall, huge protests erupted across the country, which shows his popularity in the country and his relations with Pakistanis. A video of one of such protests literally had me goosebumps:
The question arises: If the Pakistanis like him, why was he removed? That’s because you don’t have to be liked by your country’s citizens to stay in power, all you have to do is be a puppet of the US, which Imran Khan wasn’t.
If history teaches us anything, it’s that the US doesn’t like the countries that don’t align with its interests. We saw it with Iraq, Syria, Libya, many other countries, and now, Pakistan.
Even after pressure from the US and the EU, Pakistan didn’t condemn Russia at the United Nations General Assembly on March 2nd, and 24th. The country refused to sanction Russia, which is against the US interests. Not only this, Imran Khan even visited Moscow (Russia) after the war started and bought 2 million tonnes of wheat and gas.
After the EU ambassador wrote him a letter to condemn Russia, he said openly, “Are we your slaves, that whatever you say we’ll do?” He wanted Pakistan’s foreign policy to be independent, not to be controlled by any other country. That’s why they got him.
In a rally, he told the public that he received a “threat letter” from “foreign elements” who want to topple his government.
“On March 8 we received a message from America... I mean a foreign country... That message is against our country. They knew beforehand there was a no-confidence motion coming," Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said.
Many people are saying, “There’s no such letter, it’s all a drama by the PM to gain public sympathy.” Cool. If this is the case, explain to me why the High Court in Islamabad refused Imran Khan to publicize the letter? If the document or letter is fake, let him publish it. Why so worried?
Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said, “According to the Pakistani media, on March 7 this year, in a conversation with Pakistani Ambassador Asad Majid, a high-ranking American official (presumably the same Donald Lu) sharply condemned the balanced reaction of the Pakistani leadership to the events in Ukraine and made it clear that partnerships with the United States are possible only if Imran Khan is removed from power."
He is not afraid of America. He was more or less acting like the PM of a sovereign country, whose foreign and domestic policies are independent, which, again, is not an idea that the US embraces. The US wants all the countries to be its puppet, and when one nation tries to be independent, they destroy it. Just look at what they did to Libya - a country that dared to be independent. I digress.
The only point I want you to take home is that it’s a US-backed coup, period.
