ISSUE #48: International Law for thee not for me.
The US violates every nation's law by touting "international law."
Would you give health advice to someone if you are obese?
Probably, not.
This is what the US does when they lecture other nations on international law and human rights, while themselves violating both of them abroad. If we make a list of which countries should tout international law, the US will come right at the bottom. Seriously. This is not an exaggeration.
If someone cries about the “illegality” of Russia’s invasion, ask him whether the US invasion of Iraq was legal or otherwise? I wouldn’t be surprised if he has no idea of the destruction that the US brought to Iraq.
David McBride, an Australian whistleblower, says it best:
“I’ve been asked if I think the invasion of Ukraine is illegal.
My answer is: If we don’t hold our own leaders to account, we can’t hold other leaders to account.
If the law is not applied consistently, it is not the law. It is simply an excuse we use to target our enemies.
We will pay a heavy price for our hubris of 2003 in the future.
We didn’t just fail to punish Bush and Blair: we rewarded them. We re-elected them. We knighted them.
If you want to see Putin in his true light imagine him landing a jet and then saying ‘Mission Accomplished’
What he said is logically 100% correct.
Two of the evilest people on this planet ( Blair and Bush ), who should have been behind the bars a long time ago, are roaming freely on the planet. Not only this, these suckers even got Noble Peace Prize. I mean, how ignorant can you be to nominate these guys for the Noble Peace Prize who are the root cause of the sufferings of millions of Iraqis today?
Then they have the nerves to come out and compare Putin to Hitler.
Kofi Annan - United Nations secretary-general during Iraq’s invasion - said, “I have indicated it [Iraq’s invasion] was not in conformity with the UN charter. From our point of view and from the charter point of view it was illegal.”
American military’s presence in Syria is illegal and unaligned with international law.
Because of America’s military strength (800 bases around the globe) and their ability to control narratives, American war criminals are never tried before the International Criminal Court. The majority of the criminals tried before ICC are Africans. The American war criminals would easily surpass Africans if the laws were “equal” for everybody. The fact is they aren’t.
The Bush Administration literally passed the “Hague Invasion Act” in 2002, saying that the military forces will be used if any American or American-allied military personnel is tried before the ICC for their war crimes.
You might have heard of “crime of aggression”, which states that any planning, initiation, or execution of a large-scale and serious act of aggression using state military force is a crime. That means invading a country that poses no threat to you and violating its peace is a crime.
This is what they did in Iraq. They invaded the country by saying that Iraq has WMDs.
It turned out that that was a lie used to justify the war.
The thing I want to highlight is that the crime of aggression is not ratified in the UK. We can say that it’s not a crime in the UK to invade a country for no reason and demolish it. Therefore, Tony Blair can’t be prosecuted for his war crimes in Iraq.
The US only wants to push its own interests. They don’t give a shit about International Law. If that means killing a million Iraqis, then so be it.
When the US was seeking the UN authorization for the Gulf War in 1991, Yemen voted against it, and one of the US representatives told Yemen’s ambassador, “That’s the most expensive vote you ever cast.”
Want to know what happened next?
Yemen not only lost $70 million in US foreign aid but a labor contract with Saudi Arabia was lost too. At the same time, a million Yemeni immigrants were sent home by the US Gulf State allies.
These are just some examples of the US violating International Law. We can literally write for days about the stories of the US violating International Law.
A few things are more useless and wasteful than a law that only works against some. It’s not even a law, actually. Because the law is supposed to be equal for everyone. EVERYONE.
The US has made the International Law meaningless and now they are programming people into believing that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is “illegal” according to International Law. Look, you can say this in a world where the law is enforced upon everyone equally.
But the world we currently live in doesn’t work like that. The world’s largest empire supersedes any law to achieve its goals and never gets punished/hanged/tried for its war crimes. Therefore, it can’t be said that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is “illegal.” What can be said is that it’s wrong.
Illegal? Nah.
You simply can’t lecture other nations on International Law as long as there is no accountability for the war crimes that the US empire commit.
