ISSUE #49: A NEW search engine - DuckDuckDone.
Business strategy: Compete against Google by being like Google.
I was tired of having to use my critical thinking skills.
I was bored of having to form opinions and make decisions by myself. I wanted somebody else to decide what’s “right” for me. Thanks to DuckDuckGo, I no longer have to worry about it anymore.
I can now comfortably sit back and let them feed whatever bullshit they want to my brain.
Of course, everything I said above is sarcasm.
DuckDuckGo - a search engine invented in 2008 - advertises itself as a “privacy-focused” competitor to Google, which steals your data and tracks you, and provides you with biased results.
Just to show you how they used Google’s censorship as a marketing tool, here’s what they tweeted in 2019:
With the above announcement related to “down-ranking Rusian Disinformation”, they have proved that they are no different from Google. They are the same shit. They have officially joined the “Big Censorship Club” of the Big tech.
I don’t know if you need to hear this but They Are All In This Together.
They are all in this together, to censor you.
They are all in this together, to never show you both sides of the story.
They are all in this together, to bombard you with biased results.
They are all in this together, to shape a narrative that suits the government agenda.
DuckDuckGo has joined Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and other big tech platforms to censor “Russian disinformation.”
“Who watches the watchman?”
With all this blocking “disinformation” campaign going on, I want to ask them a few questions: Who gets to decide what’s “disinformation”? Why should I trust you when you say this result is “Russian disinformation”? How should I convince myself that you are NOT trying to push some narrative by blocking one side and promoting another side of the story? Even if you are a super-human with amazing capabilities to accurately differentiate between information and disinformation, why should I believe you when I have the ability to think of myself and decide what’s “disinformation” by myself?
You think we are too dumb to figure out what makes and doesn’t make sense? This is what your actions are screaming.
If information is incorrect, why censor it? People are sane enough to decide whether 2+2 = 4 OR 2+2 = 9. You have no business deciding what’s “disinformation.” This is what the users can do by themselves.
If Google and YouTube start censoring the articles and videos that prove that the Earth is flat and start promoting the content related to the roundness of Earth instead, do you think that the people who are 100% convinced about the flatness of Earth are going to change their minds because Google and YT said so? Hell NO. On the contrary, they will use it as proof to promote their beliefs.
THIS IS NOT A ROCKET SCIENCE.
And look at the hypocrisy and ignorance when he says, “I am sickened by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.”
Are you sickened by the Saudi-led genocide of Yemenis? No?
Are you sickened by Israel attacking Syria? No?
Are you sickened by Israel colonizing Palestine? No?
Are you sickened by the US bombing campaigns in Somalia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and many other countries? No?
Tell us, why? Why this double standard nonsense, you imperialist piece of shit?
When they say, “We’re taking actions against misinformation,” what they really mean is that they are helping the government and the security agencies to shape the narrative that people believe in. Because if they can shape the narrative, they can justify the destruction of the Middle East, suppression of Ivermectin as a solution to Covid, hatred towards Russia, and many other things that help them achieve their ultimate goals.
“Truth is the first casualty of the war.” Just when we needed unbiased search results the most, they decided to come up with this so-called “Russian disinformation” campaign, which means more propaganda and fewer facts.
I don’t know if you have noticed this but whenever they (Big tech platforms) strike down on “disinformation”, it’s always related to Iran, Russia, China, Venezuela, and not against the US or its allies like Saudi Arabia, Israel, or Europe as a whole.
Have you ever heard Facebook or Google saying, “We are striking down on the American disinformation?” Surely not. (I can imagine you shaking your head). They do this with countries that are not the puppets of the US empire. Seems suspicious, isn’t it?
Isn’t it weird that no social media platform has ever taken any action against America or the UK when they invaded Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan (to name a few)?
“Disinformation sites that deliberately put out false information to intentionally mislead people directly cut against that utility,” says the DDG spokesperson. Fair enough. Then why didn’t you down-rank the sites like CNN who were labeling Ivermectin as a “horse-dewormer”, while it was clear as day that Ivermectin prevents Covid?
Or that kind of disinformation is OK for you? The one which is in alignment with the US interests.
It is estimated that DuckDuckGo has 30 million users daily, which means 30 million people migrated from Google (because of their censorship) and other search engines to DDG - where they expected unbiased search results - only to get screwed by them.
DuckDuckGo increased its user base by presenting themselves as “good” guys, unlike Google which constantly censors you.
This single announcement has ravaged its reputation and they are quickly becoming “Google Lite” if not Google itself.
