ISSUE #78: We are in BILLIONS.
The longer we wait to realize it, the closer humanity and the planet gets to extinction.
These kinds of scenes give you goosebumps whenever and wherever you see them take place. These scenes depict what inevitably happens when people realize the power and strength of their numbers. The numbers are not in thousands, not even in hundreds of thousands, not even in millions, but in billions. Yes, BILLIONS.
The above video footage was taken in Sri Lanka where the countrymen have revolted against their government due to the economic crisis that has worsened their livelihood. What this footage doesn’t show you is the decades of suffering, pain, and oppression inflicted upon the working class, which leads to the proletariat getting tired of being exploited by the capitalists, realizing its strength, and rising up against the oppression.
This is what every king, monarch, politician, and capitalist has been afraid of throughout history. This is why they make people enemies of each other by making them fight over the issues that don’t matter so that they never become aware of the reality - which is them (the people) being exploited and oppressed by the ruling class of that time. This is why they never promote unity. This is why they control the media, pour billions of dollars into advertising, and prefer internet censorship and mass surveillance to control people’s thoughts because if you can control what people think, you can dictate how people act and what choices they make. This is why they do everything they can to crush the initial rebellion which can lead to a mass awakening and an all-out revolution. This is why they put people like Julian Assange in jail for exposing the US-centralized empire for what it is.
WHAT’S STOPPING US FROM REALIZING THE STRENGTH OF OUR NUMBERS?
The schools and religion play a key role in keeping people obedient to their masters. School is an institution where a person is indoctrinated for nearly a decade into believing that the government cares for people, and voting is a solution to any problem they might have with the current government. Schools take in a kid who has the ability to think critically, who has the genuine curiosity to learn about things, who questions everything and turn him into an adult who is brainwashed enough to obey the authority, accept the status quo as it is, and never ask questions (questions that challenge the establishment). And what should I speak of religion? It literally convinces people that a systematic change, if ever happens, can only happen by the consent of God, and so we should just sit comfortably, and keep praying for the change, while the world and humanity drown in front of our very eyes.
And don’t forget the big media institutions (social media also included). They constantly circulate the propaganda that the government and capitalists want us to hear. They constantly manipulate the public into believing that we live in a democracy, and why you shouldn’t rise up against the status quo. It portrays a person who challenges the status quo or the ruling elites as a “national threat” so that people don’t even think about disobeying their government. It convinces people that their government is great, even when reality says otherwise.
These three are the major reasons why the vast majority of humanity is still asleep and has not realized that a change to a better world is possible if we rise like the lions, throw away the system that favors the few while exploiting the many and build a system that benefits everybody - including the environment that we depend upon. People will keep suffering, the capitalists will keep benefitting, the politicians will keep lying as long as we don’t open our eyes and realize that it’s us who have the true power, not them.
There can’t be a better ending to this article than the following lines:
Rise, like lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number!
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you:
Ye are many—they are few!~ Percy Bysshe Shelley
