ISSUE #91: "Russian propaganda" is a synonym for Disobedience.
Amnesty International published a report a couple of days ago, which the Western officials and the empire’s useful idiots outraged at and accused the organization of spreading “Russian propaganda.”
What was in the report that destroyed the Western Ukraine narrative. Let’s take a look:
“Ukrainian forces have put civilians in harm’s way by establishing bases and operating weapons systems in populated residential areas, including in schools and hospitals.”
“Such tactics violate international humanitarian law and endanger civilians, as they turn civilian objects into military targets. The ensuing Russian strikes in populated areas have killed civilians and destroyed civilian infrastructure.”
The organization didn’t report this out of this air. It’s fact that Ukraine is using its own population as a human shield, and it has been previously reported by other independent journalists , the Washington Post, and even the United Nations. Amnesty International just reiterated what had already been said by other publications and it was one of the very rare cases where they seemed to be unbiased in their reporting on the war in Ukraine; meaning since the war began, their reporting has been overwhelmingly biased in favor of Ukraine and this was the first time where they criticized Ukraine for militarizing the residential buildings.
Just look at the responses from the US empire’s useful idiots after the report went live:
"It is a shame that the organization like Amnesty is participating in this disinformation and propaganda campaign," tweeted Zelensky advisor Mykhailo Podolyak.
"Amnesty International can go to hell for this garbage," tweeted Human Rights Foundation Chairman Garry Kasparov. "Or go to Ukraine, which Putin's war is trying to turn into hell. As with their actions on Navalny, it reeks of Russian influence turning Kremlin propaganda into Amnesty statements."
The Daily Mail called the report "a coup for Vladimir Putin's propaganda machine."
"Shameful victim-blaming. Russia invaded Ukraine and is committing unspeakable war crimes there. Please do not amplify Russian lies," tweeted Paul Massaro of the US government's Helsinki Commission.
Basically, the empire apologists accused Amnesty International of Russian propaganda. Why? Not because they were reporting lies, certainly not because they were paid by Kremlin to report this, but because what they reported doesn’t suit the Western Ukraine narrative. That’s it.
According to empire apologists, you can report anything you want as long as it fits the narrative, but you will be smeared if you report anything critical of the Ukraine narrative even if it’s based on truth. That’s how they figure out whether or not something is “russian propaganda.” They want 100% compliance from you, anything less than that will not be tolerated by them, as proved in this case.
Prior to Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, it was widely reported by the Western media outlets that Ukraine has a Nazi problem like here, here, and here, but it became “russian propaganda” to highlight this fact after the war started. Not because Ukraine solved its Nazi problem, but because it didn’t go along the Western narrative. Do you see how absurd this is?
Propaganda is anything that disagrees with the Western foreign policy.
Do you oppose the Western intervention in Syria? You have qualified for spreading russian propaganda, congratulations.
Do you oppose the Western intervention in Ukraine? You have qualified for spreading russian propaganda, congratulations.
Do you think that the US’s desire to maintain its unipolar hegemony could end us all in a nuclear apocalypse? You have qualified for spreading russian propaganda, congratulations.
Do you believe that money spent on the military-industrial complex should be spent on the domestic problems? You have qualified for spreading russian propaganda, congratulations.
See how easy it is. Just go against the Western narrative and you’ll automatically be a “Putin puppet.”
