LETTER #29: TRUDEAU'S CARBON TAX
Canadians will now pay an increased tax on the fuel they purchase starting April 1st.
CANADIANS: Our cost of living is going up dramatically. Do something.
PM TRUDEAU: The best I can do is increase the carbon tax.
Are you worried about the rising prices of gasoline in Canada?
You don’t need to anymore. Because our PM has come up with a brilliant idea to combat rising fuel prices. And it’s called……
CARBON TAX.
Canadians are now paying $40 in carbon taxes alone per tonne of the fuel they purchase. The dollar amount is going to be increased by 25% to $50/tonne in less than two weeks. It’s supposed to increase by $15 every year until it hits $170/tonne in 2030.
The oil prices in Canada were already up by more than 18% year-to-date. With the inevitable carbon tax increase on April 1st, expect to pay more at the gas stations. You’ll be paying 10-12 cents extra per liter due to immoral carbon taxes.
Just like iron cuts iron, I wonder if Trudeau is thinking that the solution to rising fuel costs is to impose more costs on the Canadian taxpayers in the form of an increased carbon tax.
When fuel costs rise, you don’t pay extra dollars ONLY at the gas stations. Don’t think that rising fuel costs won’t impact your finances because you don’t have a vehicle or you have an EV. Rising fuel costs inevitably translate into higher grocery bills, delivery costs, manufacturing costs, etc. The price of almost everything is impacted in a small or big way.
It will only fuel the fire of already 30-year high inflation. It’s akin to putting salt on the wound.
FINAL THOUGHT….
It’s good to see the smiling faces again as the mask mandate has been lifted in Ontario.
