Wanting WWIII is becoming the new norm and we must oppose it.
There is hardly a mainstream media outlet in the Western world that hasn’t published an op-ed about how the US can fight a war against countries like Russia, China, and Iran all at once and also win it by shooting up its military spending - already as high as the sky - to the new heights. It’s like saying “I can pierce through a strong brick wall if I build a muscular body and run fast enough.” Isn’t it absurd to even let that thought come to your mind?
How the heck can one pierce through a brick wall? How the heck can you win a world war in the nuclear age?
Apart from the opinions that the US should increase its military spending, in all of the op-eds published, the intellectuals of the stupid world are giving the impression that WWIII is going to happen because of the official foes of the US empire, i.e. the US and its friends are the only innocent kids in a classroom full of violent kids and if a major clash erupts in the class, the innocent is going to be the victim of the violence projected by the “bad” kids. Like the US empire’s decades-long provocations against the alleged bad countries would have nothing to do with WWIII.
The most recent of all is the “Could America win a New World War?” op-ed published in Foreign Affairs, which is yet another propaganda outlet serving the gods of the war, in which the author says “The United States needs to create deep munitions reserves, stockpile high-quality gear, and come up with creative battlefield techniques if it hopes to win [wars against Russia and China].”
“The United States clearly needs to increase its defense manufacturing capacity and speed…. In the short term, that involves adding shifts to existing factories. With more time, it involves expanding factories and opening new production lines. To do both, Congress will have to act now to allocate more money to increase manufacturing,” the article continued.
The same push for WWIII is expressed in other op-eds issued in the latter half of 2022 here, here, here, and here.
These are not just random opinions expressed by random individuals. These are the lengthy articles published in propaganda outlets that don’t only influence the way the general public perceives reality but also the government policymakers who have to dance to the beats of the war drum if they want their jobs secured. They are a fertilizer for the war industry.
This is how they manufacture consent for the worst possible thing in the world - WAR. Without this kind of narrative management, nobody is going to agree to the killings of fellow humans and the destruction of the planet that follows. Without this kind of narrative management, nobody is going to believe that a world war in the nuclear age can be won. Without this kind of narrative management, nobody would be convinced that war is the only answer to the puzzle put forward by conflicting material interests.
We just can’t let them get away with it this time because WWIII is going to be the worst of every bad thing you can possibly imagine. It’s going to cause unprecedented human suffering and deaths because we now have weapons that we didn’t have during the previous wars fought At every opportunity we get, the curtain they put in front of people’s eyes to hide reality has to be torn apart.
I don’t care if you think Putin is an “evil” man who invades countries for no reason. I don’t care if you consider Xi Jinping to be the “greatest enemy of the open societies in the world.” Because none of this is going to matter when the nukes start flying over your head. Shouting “Putin started the war” is NOT going to save you when the shadow of mushroom clouds approaches you.
Opposing a nuclear war doesn’t mean that you believe this or that country is bad, it means that you’re not blinded by the partisan echo chambers designed by the warlords. It means you oppose the absolute worst idea of erasing humanity from the earth for obvious reasons. It’s the moral responsibility of every human who appreciates the beauty of life and this planet.
